Apple Sets the Date for Release of New iPhone Information
For everyone who has been anxiously awaiting the release of the new iPhone 5, it seems the wait is coming to an end. On September 3, Apple sent invitations to the media for an event at their Cupertino campus. This event will be held September 10. In the past, Apple has released it’s new technology about 10 days after it’s official announcements, so if they follow this pattern the new phones may make an appearance about September 20.
The invitation they sent out read, “This should brighten everyone’s day.” Large dots surround the wording on the invitation, in bright colors that match Apple’s new operating system, iOS 7. It has been rumored that these colors may also be indicative of the colors of the new iPhone 5C.
Secrecy from Apple
Apple has been mute regarding the new additions to their product line, though rumors have been constant. There have been many leaked photos suggesting that Apple will release two phones, the iPhone 5S that will be an update to the iPhone 5, and the iPhone 5C which will be a new, lower cost iPhone.
iPhone 5S rumors and leaks
The iPhone 5S is said to be very similar in many ways to the iPhone 5. The biggest difference is rumored to be the fact that the new model has a fingerprint sensor embedded near the circular home button. This would add a greater level of security to the phone because it would use a fingerprint swipe as, essentially, a unique password.
The iPhone 5S is also said to have a processor that is faster than previous models, an improved camera, and will be available in a gold color. The pictures that have been leaked of the gold iPhones make it seem that it will be a light champagne color.
iPhone 5C rumors and leaks
The still-unconfirmed iPhone 5C is said to be a less expensive model than it’s predecessors. There have been a number of leaked pictures of the 5C, showing the phone in a range of colors. The images so far have been yellow, green, white and blue, and it appears the phone will be plastic.
It’s possible the use of these components will help bring down the price of iPhone repair. It has been speculated that the new, lower cost phone will replace some older models in the iPhone line, such as the iPhone 4 or 4S.
Both of the phones appear to have a screen the same size as the iPhone 5.
What Apple has confirmed
The details of the phones are still up in the air, but the software information is known. iOS 7 has been announced and does not look anything like the previous operating software. The design is updated and has added features such as Control Center that puts many commonly used apps in one easily accessible spot, instant app updates and more photo choices.
Apple’s upcoming event will be held at their Cupertino campus Town Hall at 10 a.m., September 10.
